Tomb Raider star Angelina Jolie used the name of one of the temples in Cambodia.
Ta Prohm is a temple located at Ankor, Siem Reap, Cambodia. The temple was built in the 12th century was indeed a place of the first 'Tomb Raider' movie. This Hindu Temple is located in Ankor district which is the UNESCO's world cultural heritage site.
The success of the film to raise the level of tourist traffic and the prestige of the temple of Ta Prohm in Siem Reap province.
Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, urged Jolie to raise awareness about better preservation of this world heritage as more needed to be done to safeguard the temple complex and its surroundings and deteriorating bas-reliefs; save it from vandalism and looting; put some controls on unchecked tourism; check the demand for water table which could undermine the stability of sandy soils under the temples..
Jolie is considered a patron saint of Cambodia, especially his adopted son named Maddox was adopted from the temple area.
Not only used as a temple, one of the restaurants in the temple area also sells cocktail-named Tomb Raider.
